We’ve all used dial-up access at some point in our lives. In today’s world, you’re not exactly traveling in the fast lane with a dial-up connection. It may be available in most areas, but is it worth:
 

    Limitations of Dial-up

  • Available in most areas, but long-distance fees may apply
  • Ties up your phone line
  • Slow surfing speeds (capped at 56K, but typically much slower)
  • Logging on every time you want to use the Internet (and risking getting “bumped” off)
  • Can’t talk and surf at the same time (without the purchase of an additional phone line)
DIRECWAY
DIRECWAY utilizes satellite technology to send and receive the Internet to your computer, making it available everywhere in the continental United States. While satellites give you high-speed Internet, the distance between our satellite and your dish does produce a micro-fraction time delay or ‘latency’ during transmissions, which may not be perfect for ‘twitch’ games or online trading that need split-second reactions. So, if you’re a big online gamer or utilizing a VPN, DIRECWAY may not be ideal for you.

General Overview — Always On
 Our Two-Way DIRECWAY® broadband by satellite is always on, so you have immediate access to the net whenever you want it. Plus, it leaves your phone line free. So you can surf and talk on the phone at the same time -- and get rid of the expense of that second phone line!

The DIRECWAY terminal is comprised of both indoor and outdoor equipment. Outside, there is an antenna and transmit-and-receive electronics, integrated into a small, unobtrusive dish.

This equipment connects by coaxial cable to the Indoor Receive Unit (IRU) and the Indoor Transmit Unit (ITU), which connect to your computer through a simple USB connector. Just plug it in and load the software, and you're off and running!

Security
 DIRECWAY® knows how important your privacy is. That's why our service uses conditional access and triple encryption to protect both your incoming and outgoing information. This makes DIRECWAY broadband access as secure as you can get.


Conditional access uses encryption technology to secure DIRECWAY Service against unauthorized access.

It protects multimedia and digital files from being intercepted by any site except those designated. Information you send is inherently secure because of the complexity of our satellite transmission.
